Default Mini-Pet PvP / Titles / Gambling

Ok I know everyone is gonna love this!



Make a small little outpost on the battle isles, you will get there through an explorable zone with no monsters, meaning you cant warp but like a 3 min walk from the temple and your there.


What happens here?

ILLEGAL MINI PET FIGHTS OF DEATH! *giggle*

What happens;


Take your mini-pet, talk to the [Fight Manager], get your pet in for the next available battle.

While you wait your turn, talk to the [Fight Bookie], place a max bet of 1k.

Time to fight. Take your mini-pet to the [Fight Ref], your pet enters battle.

Game forces your pet to battle another users pet.

The fans scream "Two pets enter One pet leaves!, Two pets enter One pet leaves!"

The winner talks to the [Fight Bookie] To collect his winnings.

The looser talks to [Fight Medic] to reclaim the fallen pet.

Notes.


Pets that die in the battle, are not really dead, just prevented from fighting for a 24 hour period.

You may battle no more than 2 times an hour.

All pets have similar stats, no diffrences, its random chance which one wins.

Bookie pays at 2:1 odds.

A new [Pet NPC] would need to be created, where you could purchase pets, only 4-5 diffrent ones, for around 5k flat. These should not be pets given as the one year reward. Call these the "standard pets" that everyone has access to, then those with char's over 1 year get a sweeter looking pet that works the same way (lol rare skins anyone?)

Titles.
2 forms.

One for the pet that you cannot change, escalates as it progresses in win count, is simply a measure of wins for that pet. Same as hero title, after X wins your Y, after Z wins your Y+1.

One for pet owner, showing total wins in Battle. (Meaning you can use diffrent pets and work towards one goal)

Its been brought to my attention ANets views on gambling.

Let me say a couple words on that.

Theres very little in the way of abuse that can happen with this system.

First with the odds @ 2:1 if you could find a way to manipulate the winner (say someone logged off during a battle?) you would at best only get back the original 1k that you bet. So theres no real way to make money. Now I wasnt quite clear in my original post. You can "only" bet 1k. And you more or less HAVE to bet in order to compete. Think of it as an "entrance" fee into the "battle" and if you win, you win your opponets entrance fee.

Its completely random who wins, which imo makes it alot like slots. The server controls the pets, and all pets are equal.

And it gives you something to do with that 100k shiro in your inventory.

Ok, after talking with some people in IRC.

It was brought up that there was very little a player could do in terms of fiddling with the pet to make it a bit less than random. Meaning let the server deal with the fight, but allow users some control over thier minipets.

The system that was semi hashed out in IRC was to allow a mini pet to have 3 attributes that a player could adjust. Im not to keen on UI looks so ill just roughly go over the atttribute system and leave the UI decisions up to Anet should they decide to implement this.

Basically.

Give each minipet 100 attribute points. And allow them to be spread between;

Strength - Power of Attacks
Defense - AL Level
Speed - Attack Speed

It stays with the rock - paper - scissors feel of guildwars main pvp componets, allows a little bit of variation in pets on the players part, and keeps it ultimately up to luck as the server controls the pets during the battle.

With 100 points, you could do an even
33/33/33 with one point left over, or you could try 50/0/50 or any combination between.

So now you _Have_ to have a minipet? First they were nice little gifts and now they are necessary...Leave minipets at what they are
If anything should be fighting it's normal pets...

*sigh* alright then... but not the battle isles. It would be cooler to have two areas in each chapter, their locations very remote, that you could do this in.

Uhm... I didnt say you HAD to. I added the NPC option for those who "wanted" to but "couldnt" and didnt want to pay upwards of 20-30k for a b-day pet. Go buy a 5k "standard" pet.

Its optional. You wouldnt have to participate. And making only 2k an hour, im sure there are other more profitable things to do ingame...




And uhm, I said battle isles since really its a pvp thing.

I wouldn't mind a seperate area to unleash ALL mini pets in your invent so not only one is out ,but all 20. A place to show and trade and sell mini pets to other people.

This would be a fun thing to do. Nice little money sink too. I think it'd be even better if all pet stats were the same, but you controlled the pet. That'd be fun. But the way you mentioned would still be cool.

I like it.

How bout a novel idea? What if we improve the AI and other bugs of our current Ranger pets....Which actually affect gameplay?!

This is in no way a PvP thing. PvP is Player vs. player. By what your saying its randomly generated. So it isnt like PvP.

Putting in mini pet combat = great idea.

Making it an automated gambling system = horrible idea.

You should have some active role in training and outfitting your mini pets with weapons and armor and skills and such. Then the winner of the mini pet combat should be the pet who has been better taken care of by his master.

I don't think they are fine. Right now there is no point to owning more than one of them since you can only release one at a time. Plus on some of them like Kuung there is no point owning it at all because it flies so far away from you that no one knows it belongs to you. Heck, you might even forget yourself!

They definitely could stand to add improvements to mini pets, like combat. Those who didn't want to use their mini pets for combat wouldn't have to.

Why give fake pets all this stuff when a ranger's pet doesn't even have all that? Mini pets don't even count in battle, and you want to give people more options for them than actual pets that attack things?

Give regular pets armor, attributes and better AI. Don't give all this stuff to things that don't even count in battle, and I mean a real battle, not pit fighting...

Talk about ungrateful...You get them FREE...if you want to collect, that's something extra, kind of stupid having 10 of them floating around at the same time Be happy Anet gave them in the first place
Pets are what are for combat, Mini-pets are fo sho...
